👋 Hello June! With 2021 almost halfway done, we’re picking up steam on project development in the Litentry roadmap. This week we have fewer news announcements, instead, we’re full-on accelerating the delivery of products and tech collaborations. 🤖
🧪 Testnet: SBP milestone 1 completed
- For the Substrate Builder Program, we have successfully finished our milestone 1! This means that credit computation and identity linking modules are completed along with other features of the Litentry App and parachain.
- Designed and preliminarily implemented Polkadot account linking in the Account Linker pallet
- Finished NFT pallet issuance types and the preliminary logics

🤝 Partnership: Litentry x iMe
In Litentry’s Identities Integration protocol, users’ identity data such as tx history, IDO participation can be used to compute a personal score in a privacy-enhancing fashion. Working with iMe allows us to integrate data from iMe and Telegram, so that users are able to avail their behavioural data on the platform to get customized DeFe services.
So far we have built the infrastructure to integrate data from Ethereum, Polkadot, Twitter. This partnership is our strategic approach to further assemble identities from widely used social media platforms.
If you haven’t heard of iMe yet, they are a messenger based on Telegram API, with integration of Neurobots AI and a crypto wallet. It allows users to buy crypto with fiat and transfer it to your telegram contact. Check them out!
🎙Clubhouse talk: why is market reaction to DID lukewarm?
Hanwen spoke at “PlatOn Talk” on clubhouse about the correlation of DID and DAO governance and the status quo of DID market. See below for an excerpt of the talk.
Q: Big companies including Microsoft, Huawei are doing DID, but they haven’t been successful in promoting. Can you tell me what are the obstacles and challenges DID projects are facing?
A: Before I get into them, let me give you some context of DID: Generally speaking there are two major kinds of DID: 1) decentralized identifier of real-life credentials, including university transcripts & governent ID. This is what Microsoft and Huawei are doing; We also have 2) decentralized identity based on on-chain personal data. Compare to 1, this kind of DID doesn’t involve real-life credential, is privacy-preserved, aligned with the core value of Web 3. It is what Litentry is currently experimenting, an aggregated on-chain identity as DID.
For 1, most projects attempt to supercede off-chain credentials or move them to the decentralized digital world, but this usually won’t work because the market demand is already well met by the existing centralized solutions. As of 2, there is no enough personal data on blockchain to support usages of DID since most on-chain data are just transactions. It’s also very difficult to do data indexing across chains. Besides, there is no algorithm or model that is sophisticated enough to truly empower credit computation in the DID space. All of these factors interwine, making DID project challenging to implement.
🏡 The Litentry family now has 25 members!
We’re thrilled to see the Litentry family rapidly growing and we have 25 people as of now. Like most crypto projects, the Litentry team is fully decentralized with members based across Europe and Asia. Though we’re fully remote, we provide offices in Berlin and Hangzhou for members who prefer to work in them.
Remote-first has been working really well for us. In the past few months, Litentry has witnessed great success in hiring crypto experts and talents in product, marketing and project management. The remote-first policy has helped us cast a wider net in attracting great talents and this will continue in the foreseeing future.
We still face challenges from virtual collaboration, yet we have deployed a good playground for employees to get their work done, which includes exhaustive documentation on Notion, meeting notes & recordings, initiative boards, personal training, as well as plenty of social gathers and 1:1 meetings for us to bond and take care of each other.
