Litentry Crowdloan is partnering with Polkadot Name System (PNS), one of our member projects in DID Startups Program, to give our crowdloan contributors free Polkadot domain names.
- All participants who contribute more than 10 DOT to the Litentry Crowdloan can earn a Polkadot domain name (.dot) for free after verification. Contributions through various decentralized platforms are valid, but centralized exchanges are not supported by PNS at the moment.
- The domain name is pre-locked and can be activated and used after the official launch of the PNS Network. It is completely free for your first year use. After the domain expires, you renew it for $5/year, which means you get a $25 off registration fee + free use for a year.
What is a Polkadot domain name (.dot)?
Polkadot domain name (.dot) is a globally unique domain name provided by PNS with the suffix .dot. Similar to .eth, this domain name can resolve a variety of on-chain and off-chain information, supporting a variety of resolution mechanisms, including account addresses, smart contract addresses, IPFS addresses, NFT, traditional Web addresses, SSL, social accounts, email, and more. Users have full ownership and management permission over their domains.
Users can register PNS domain names and use them as their digital identities; Companies, communities or organizations can generate and distribute sub-domain names for their members as membership credentials.
Users have complete control over their digital identities, can grant access to their personal home pages through domain names, and show aggregated multi-chain data. Polkadot domain name will become users’ personal name cards and the gateway to showcase Web 3 assets.

How to get a Polkadot domain name?
- Contribute to Litentry Crowdloan with 10 DOT or above. If you have already done so, you may skip this step. You can contribute to Litentry through the official channel or decentralized channels such as:
Centralized exchanges are NOT supported in this event.
2. Go to https://prelaunch.pns.link/ and click “Connect to Polkadot.{js}” to verify your address.
3. Authorize access and select the correct address.
4. Now you can choose the domain name of your choice.
Domain name requirements:
- Contains at least 10 digits
- Only English letters and digits are supported. Special characters are not supported
- Domains are first come, first served, except for individual domain names on the reserved reservation list
5. Lock down your favorite domain name, now pre-registration completed! You can also share your joy with one click.
After successful pre-registration, PNS will lock the domain name for you and inform on social channels as soon as the PNS Network is officially launched. At that time, you can bind and activate your domain name with the linked Polkadot wallet. Domain name will be valid for 1 year after activation, after that you can continue to use it for $5/ year.
PNS offers a 3-month reservation period to those who have not activated the domain name after the pre-registration. after this time frame, the domain will be released and made available for registration.
In case Litentry fails to win a slot in the Polkadot parachain auction, will my domain name be taken back?
The good news is: No it won’t! Regardless of Litentry’s success in winning the auction, if you successfully have passed the eligibility verification and get your domain name pre-registration, you’re entitled to the domain anyhow.
