Dear IdentityHub Users,

Over the past 24 hours, we’ve reached a significant milestone with the release of the IdentityHub EVM version. However, with progress often comes challenges. We’ve observed an average concurrency of approximately 50, spiking to a notable 280. This is a staggering 5 times higher than our anticipated service throughput from stress tests, leading to two network crashes and one network restart.

We’re pleased to report that the service has since stabilized, thanks in part to the easing of user traffic.

IdentityHub’s Current Infrastructure

For clarity, IdentityHub is currently operating on the Litentry Staging Network, a self-hosted substrate-based Parachain. This indicates that our product is still in its testing phase. The silver lining of this incident is that it occurred before our launch on the Litentry Main Network and before onboarding any use-case partners. This experience has provided invaluable insights into managing high request loads.

One contributing factor to the high concurrency was the absence of gas fee charges, which typically help regulate traffic dynamically. While we’re exploring ways to optimize service capacity, especially concerning the TEE side chain performance, we recognize the need for a more sustainable solution. Discussions around introducing network gas fees are underway, but this will be accompanied by comprehensive research to determine the most effective pricing model.

Our Way Forward

Our immediate focus is on enhancing network stability and increasing service throughput. The challenges we’ve faced are indicative of the complexities associated with decentralized identity services reliant on privacy computing. However, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering robust performance and preparing for broader adoption.

A Token of Our Appreciation

We genuinely regret any inconvenience caused during the IdentityHub EVM Version Release Campaign and the subsequent reward claims. To express our gratitude for your unwavering support, we’re introducing a new credential — IDHub EVM Version Early Bird. This credential serves as a testament to your participation in this campaign. If you’ve generated a credential between August 14th and August 21st, 2023, you’re eligible to claim this unique credential.

Holders of the IDHub EVM Version Early Bird credential will enjoy special privileges in our future campaigns and events. For instance, possessing this credential could lead to enhanced reward outcomes in the future. We’re excited about this initiative and will be sharing more details about its launch on Twitter soon.

In Conclusion

Challenges are an integral part of growth, and we’re grateful for your patience and trust as we navigate these early stages. Your feedback, support, and active participation drive us to innovate and set new standards in the decentralized identity space.

Stay tuned for more updates, and together, let’s shape the future of decentralized identity with IdentityHub!
